The Clusters Meet Regions event held in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), on November 8-9, 2023, proved to be an insightful gathering focusing on the pivotal role of clusters in steering regional innovation towards a climate-neutral and digitally advanced future.

Hosted at the Business Club Düsseldorf (Wirtschaftsclub Düsseldorf), the event attracted a diverse array of experts and policymakers passionate about sustainable and technological advancement in the North Rhine-Westphalia region.

One of the highlights of the event was a panel discussion featuring TRANSFORMER Project Partner Professor Dr Matthias Kiese (Institute of Geography of the Ruhr University Bochum), delving into strategic and theoretical approaches on how cluster organisations can support twin transition processes within regional innovation ecosystems.

The event's second half saw a dynamic matchmaking session, providing participants with a platform to explore strategic collaboration and opportunities.  Amidst presentations and discussions, Dmitri Domanski from the Business Metropole Ruhr took the stage to pitch the TRANSFORMER Project, offering regions an opportunity to rethink their innovation ecosystems and create new possibilities for systemic transformation.

TRANSFORMER provides a regional assessment framework for Transition Super-Labs, evaluating regional transition needs and potentials. The Transition Super-Lab Roadmap, tailored to the practical needs of planners and policymakers, serves as a guide for regions globally interested in developing their own Transition Super-Labs.
